From my hospital bed.......
Hello blogger friends, many of you already have heard the news, but for those of you who haven't, I went into pre-term labor last saturday at 33 weeks. I dilated to about 4 1/2-5 cm and was having contractions pretty regularly. They gave me some medication to help stop my labor and gave me steroids to help the babies lungs. This morning I was taken off of the meds and we are seeing if I go back into labor. Please pray that I am able to hold on to this baby for a few more weeks. I will be kept here at the hospital for at least a few more days, quite possibly for a few more weeks (if we can keep baby in the womb that long). The hope is to get to 37 weeks so that this baby won't have to be kept in the NICU at all. If the baby was to be born now, it looks pretty good overall. They often have some trouble with breathing, infections, and temperature control however. They can also have a harder time learning how to breastfeed. Because I missed a lot of those newborn moments with our first daughter, I would really hate to lose some of those with our new baby as well. But we are just thankful that God was gracious in keeping Elena in the womb for the past 48 hours giving the steroids enough time to kick in.We are praying that, first of all, that Elena would be kept safe, no matter when I go into labor and that she does well out of the womb.
Secondly, we are praying that she will stay put for a few more weeks so that she can have an easier time once she is born.
I would appreciate your prayers! Thank you!

Hi Kimmy! We heard about Elena at church, and we all stopped to pray for you. My family has been praying alone as well. God bless,
Amber
Praying, Kimi. I posted this on my blog as well. May the Lord be your comfort and strength!
God bless you and your family. May He hold you all in the hollow of His hand.
I want you to know that i am praying for you. I know what having an early baby is like, so I pray that God will be glorified in no matter what happens.
Mrs. Harris,
You, Elena and your husband are in my prayers!
Leigh
Hi. You don't know me, but my brother is a friend of Brett and Alex's. He did speech a couple years ago. I wanted to encourage you by telling you that one of my little brothers was born at 34.5 weeks and he was just fine. I've also heard that the lungs of baby boys develop slower than the lungs of baby girls. :)
I prayed almost continuously for you and your family during those difficult months last year. I will pray for safety for you and Elena.
Elizabeth

I'm praying!
I've been praying, Kimi, and will continue to pray. God bless!
Kimi,
You are in our content prayers, along with Elena! It must be hard to just sit in bed all day in order to keep little Elena from gracing the world quite yet. :) I pray in those moments God would overwhelm you with His presence!
We love you very much!
Lots of loving hugs sent your way,
Lorianne
(for Barclay family)
I have been praying for you and the baby, and I will continue to do so. Thanks for keeping us updated.
Dear Kimi,
Our family is praying for your precious Elena and you, and for strength for Joel. If there is anything we can do for you, let us know. Staying put in bed can be boring or frustrating (I was also on bedrest for a month, even with toddlers in the house!)
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Isaiah 26:3
Hey Kimi-
Are you comfortable in that hospitable bed? We'd stop in and say hi-bring some flowers and all that- but thought you probably just need to stay low. Goodness, that little Elena just wants to be out in the world doesn't she? She must be a real go getter. Sounds like her mom...we're praying for you and the the babe every day.
Toodles!
Christa
Kimi and Joel~
We have been praying for you and baby Elena, and will continue to pray. An email was sent out through our church so others here in Idaho are also praying for you.
Much love and prayers,
Roberta
Dear Kimi Harris, my name is Ruth and I have been very much encouraged and inspired by your blog. I'm praying for you and your daughter, Elena. "Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My victorious right hand." (Isa. 41:10)
Prayers are being sent! May the Peace of Christ remain with you each moment. Thanks for the update!
In Him,
Claire
Kimi,
I have just started reading your blog and I will add you to my prayer list. I am pregnant as well - due Sept 16th. I am glad that by God's mercy, your baby has been able to receive the benefit of the steroids. God bless!
Thank you for the update! You are in our thoughts and prayers through this time. Keep fighting for that precious baby girl!
Prayers are being lifted up, all the way from Texas.
I came over from Roberta's blog. May God be near you and baby. We have an awesome God. PS I do not know you at all but had to chuckle at your anonymous commenters and your reaction. You know it is amazing how few people understand what the role of a woman really is supposed to be! Keep up the good work and your children will rise up and call you blessed and your husband will you praise you!
Kimi,
You're in my prayers! :)
Zachary
We love you Kimmy, Joel and baby Elena! You are in our prayers. Let us know if there's anything we can do for you.
Love,
Ruth (for the DePues)
I read about you and your baby at the Rebelution. You're family has been in my prayers!
I found your blog through the Rebelution, and I just wanted to say, as twenty-four others have, that I am praying for you and your little baby.
Kimi,
I'm so gld to hear that you and Elena, (and Joel), are doing well. I saw Joel in worship today and Joy radiated from his face. We are praying for you throughout the days. I keep thinking of Jeni Mount and the twins and how they stayed inside until the right moment. They are so strong and healthy now!
